bullet  This Door to Remain Locked During Business Hours

If you're going to try to flee a courtroom, make sure you aim for the unlocked door.

Robert Biggs, 31, was halted in his tracks allegedly trying to escape a Cook County, Ill., courtroom. The only thing between the hardened hard-time con and freedom: a female deputy. She tackled him.

Biggs was attending an extradition hearing April 19 when he tried to make a break for it through the heavy double doors that separated the courtroom from the hallway. Unfortunately for Biggs, the door he aimed for was locked.

Biggs bounced back off the door, and when he tried to go through the other door, he was tackled by the deputy. "She hits really hard," he whined.

Biggs "did admit to some embarrassment that he was taken down by a female deputy," said a spokesman for the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

After his capture, Biggs asked whether he would be charged with escape or attempted escape "because I've been through this before." And he wasn't kidding. According to records from Ohio, Biggs served four years in prison for receiving stolen property -- and escaping.

Biggs was in court on charges he robbed a hair salon, then barricaded himself in a motel room. He was arrested after several hours of police negotiations, and was charged with armed robbery, resisting a police officer, possession of a firearm, criminal damage to property, and criminal trespassing.

Arrested with him was accomplice Kristina Hickman, 20, on charges of armed robbery, drug possession, possession of ammunition and criminal trespassing.

The tattooed tear is used to let gang members know how many times he has been in prison. I know this because my husband works for TDCJ.

I doubt there is a worldwide standard for tattoos, but I would suppose your husband is correct about the general meaning in his area of Texas. -rc

this is funny and sad because this is my brother and really shows you what drugs can do to a person Is really sad he came from a family with money and always lived in the outskirts of town ie london, west jeff, ohio which is good areas not ghetto shows drugs does not discriminate and i am so happy that deputy caught him before getting away at least in prison he will be safer than in the street and the public will be safer also i just wish they would bring back the chain gang no one should get a free life prison only shows these convicts that prison is easier than real life because in prison has friends no job free food no responsibility and forces tax payers to pay for them a little work never hurt anyone and I wanna send my deepest apology to whoever he may have scared harmed in the process of trying to rob steal or whatever he has been charged with

You're right: drugs will take you out whether one is "upper" or "lower" class. The lack of paying attention in the nice neighborhood's good schools shows. -rc

On rare occasions, there's someone who causes great distress, so to speak, when my wife and I are out at a bar. Enough so that I actually want to hurt him. My wife will stop me and tell me to let HER take him. I would only hurt him, where she will not only hurt him, but he'll suffer the additional embarrassment from being taken out by a dainty little woman.
