bullet  The Face of Hypocrisy

California state senator Roy Ashburn was picked up early Wednesday morning on suspicion of DUI.

Ashburn is reported to have been swerving his state-issued black Chevy Tahoe near the state capitol building in Sacramento. A male passenger was in the vehicle with Ashburn, but has not been identified.

Senator Ashburn was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level higher than .08%. He was released on $1,400 bond.

Roy Ashburn is a Republican Senator from Bakersfield, and has a history of supporting anti gay rights legislation. In fact, he has voted against every gay rights measure in the State Senate since taking office.

How is that relevant to the case? Just prior to the arrest, witnesses report seeing him leaving Faces, a gay bar in midtown Sacramento.

The curators at the Mug Shot Muesum are sure Ashburn was only at the club for "legislative research".

I agree with Stephen, though not for the reasons he presumably means.

Voting against liberalising one's own kind either means that one doesn't want to be as one is, or that one thinks that the current situation is adequate and that no additional rights are needed. Ironic, yes. Hypocritical, no.

To Mike from Dallas,
First I’m going to guess that what you meant by "how he surpassed .08% in the first place" was his blood alcohol level. I don’t know if you drink, I do but not much, it’s not really hard to get that much alcohol down to reach that level. You might remember that before all the propaganda about the alcohol problem it was .10%. I myself would take a lot of alcohol to reach either level, but others don’t take much at all.

Secondly I would think there are a lot of women that would take offence at the notion that you don’t consider them to be real. A woman no matter where they are from or how they are met is still a woman. The only ones I would consider ‘not real’ are cartoons or animated. Now if that’s what you meant then OK. I guess if you into dating a cartoon or animated charter now and then that’s up to you.

I don’t think that’s what his HYPOCRISY is all about. If I remember right he doesn’t admit that he is gay at all, just engages in homosexual activity. There for it is HYPOCRISY, that is the point of the article. He doesn’t openly admit and may not eve admit to himself, what his true sexual orientation is. Until he does admit it he is being a hypocrite.

A 180-lb man needs FOUR drinks in an hour to reach a .08% blood alcohol level. Some days after the posting appeared, Ashburn did admit he is gay. -rc

Bob in Illinois, do yourself a favor and look up PEDANT in the dictionary.

And, obviously, from the mugshot entry at Ladies Man, not all women on the Internet are actually women.

So I'm sure those women who do take offense are quite capable of expressing it, themselves, (for whatever inconceivable purpose) and don't need a Pedant to do it for them.
