I can just hear the first officers on the scene asking, "Did he have any tattoos, scars, or other distinguishing features that might help us identify him?"

"Well, officer, now that you mention it...." -rc

Dane Eisenman was right! And no one believed him!

I have a question: What are those horns made out of? That's gotta hurt!

Some tattoo/piercing places offer them. "The most commonly used materials are titanium, soft solid silicone, and Teflon. Other materials such as stainless steel can be used, but some people can develop an allergic reaction and reject the implant. The procedure itself is quite safe, but as with any sort of body modification, there are some risks." --Fazeteen (from way back in 2001 -- this isn't new.) -rc

There are times such as this when reality is stranger than fiction. You just can't make up stuff like this. A totally weirded out guy like this driving a minivan? I think you're right about idling vans Randy. I think his mom has had problems with him for a very long time.

Dear heavens, pick ONE form of self-mutilation, not all of them. So much self-hatred.

So, you're saying you don't want him dating your daughter? -rc

Aww, isn't he just Mommy's Little Imp?

When I saw the mugshot, I thought it was latex prosthetics. I didn't realize there were idiots, er I mean people, who did that permanently to themselves.

Date my daughter? Congratulations, kid, you've just won a free martial arts lesson in applied leverage to joints that were never meant to bend that way.

I ready your articles all the time, and usually enjoy them immensely, but this one I thought was a bit mean.

I have quite a few friends who have several different types of body modification (piercing, tattoos, implants, etc.) who are very well adjusted and stable, loving, helpful and friendly people. Why is this form of self-expression and art a bad thing, but it's acceptable for women to get breast implants, for men to get hair implants, for both sexes to have their teeth artificially whitened, for women to have their makeup tattooed on their faces (eye and lip liner), for botox treatments, face lifts, lipo, tummy tucks? I know plenty of people who have had these procedures, as well, and some are wonderful people, and some are jerk criminals. Don't judge a person based solely on their appearance.

Looking at him, I have to wonder why he hasn't been committed to a psychiatric institution. Yeesh.

Wow. I'm really not into much body modification but his is actually kind of attractive in this odd sort of way. I don't think I would draw the conclusion that just because he likes to change the way he looks that he would also be unbalanced enough to try to run someone over. That being said the story in itself is worthy of a spot on MSM and the picture is a good one. But the correlation between the appearance of this individual and his mental deviation is a little tenuous.

Enhancing one's appearance by improving what they already have is one thing. Piercing's are not an enhancement of the natural piercings one already has. Although I have a few tattoos, they're not visible under normal circumstances. Tattoos are not an enhancement of one's natural body markings. And not everyone will find the same art to be appealing as I do.

Modifications to one's appearance to look markedly different invites derision. Apparently he's pleased with his success. No one held a gun to his head and forced him to undergo weirdness surgery. He might be the nicest guy in the world (the mugshot is the result of proof to the contrary). But someone who works and pays money to look like a clown should expect the normal reaction to clowns. Laughter. And revulsion from some.
