bullet  The Body of Evidence

"These false allegations have ruined my job and my career," says Michael Trent Fowler, 33. Fowler was a new police officer in Leighton, Ala., and it happened after he was on the job for two months.

A female officer at the department says that Fowler exposed himself to her -- at the police department.

"As soon as the complaint was brought to my attention, I immediately conducted an internal investigation with the assistance of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation," said Police Chief Ray Hayse. "Following the investigation, [Fowler] was terminated. We felt it was in the best interest of the city to end his employment with our department."

"The charges are fraudulent, and my accuser is attempting to discredit me and save her employment," Fowler said. "I have never been in trouble. I have never been so wrongfully accused nor have I ever been so emotionally distraught by anything in my whole life."

But once a warrant was issued for his arrest on the misdemeanor charge, Fowler turned himself in to the Colbert County Sheriff's Office on April 6, and was released after posting $50 bail.

Now remember: he turned himself in. Here's what he was wearing at the time:

The shirt reads, People Like You are the Reason People Like Me Kill People. Maybe it's just us, but maybe it's all for the best that he moves toward a different career.

To Mike in Dallas: That is exactly what Fowler said,

"The charges are fraudulent, and my accuser is attempting to discredit me and save her employment," Fowler said. "I have never been in trouble. I have never been so wrongfully accused nor have I ever been so emotionally distraught by anything in my whole life."

Having dealt with cops who had serious conduct issues -- surliness and bullying toward civilians -- as well as one cop who yelled at me while in the emergency room at the hospital I was taken to after being T-boned and my car rolled 180 degrees (How's that for cold and unfeeling? To make it even more interesting, [1] the driver who hit me had just come from dinner at a local restaurant and was possibly intoxicated, [2] driving 40 MPH after midnight, and [3] one of the people who was riding with her was a police officer from outside the county I live in, and they didn't test her for alcohol probably because of professional courtesy), I think most police departments can do a much better job of hiring officers.

Holy $hi+! I was with him in the military (Lackland), and was my best friend while I was in. I actually was doing a search online to find him after Facebook wasn't giving me any luck. If anyone knows how to find him, I would love to get back in touch with him!
