Neighbors and other witnesses say Thomas Alan Heugel, 56, of Grand Rapids Township, Mich., represented himself variously as a minister, an emergency medical technician, and a doctor when he performed "minor procedures" such as body piercing and ...um... circumcisions.
Circumcision seemed to be his specialty, allegedly performing the procedure on numerous adult men, whom he apparently recruited online on Craigslist and gay sites.
"He needs to be taken off the streets," said a witness who called police after witnessing several circumcisions. The man said he was Heugel's former boyfriend. None of the men complained of him doing a bad job. He allegedly took up the practice after losing his job -- as a car salesman.
"I don't know what the attraction is," said a sheriff's spokesman. "I don't know, and the detective doesn't know."
Heugel was charged with (take a deep breath) "Health Profession-Unauthorized Practice and Occupational Code-Performance Occupation Without a License" -- a felony which calls for up to four years in prison. He was released after posting $5,000 bail.
The son of the former chief of police of Sparta, Mich., Heugel is also being investigated on possible charges of sexual contact with minors. Investigators are being circumspect, but that "contact" with minors may also have been circumcisions.

The reporters covering this story conducted all interviews with their legs tightly crossed.

Who in the hell VOLUNTEERS for a circumcision???
I had to get blind, stinking drunk just to go in for a vasectomy and, even then, I nearly chickened out.
