Posted by Charles, DFW Area on June 7, 2010: Yeah, we got to see it over and over. Perfect example of an engineering triumph for protecting toll booth workers. In an ironic twist of fate, Robbie Knievel was just at Texas Motor Speedway (approx. 15 miles NW of DFW Airport) this past weekend jumping over police cars and ambulances. Posted by Beth, Seattle on June 7, 2010: I guess that's one way to avoid paying the toll... lol Posted by Will, California on June 7, 2010: I wonder who is paying for this twit's medical treatment? Probably us. At least she didn't kill someone (this time). --- Actually, her auto insurance carrier will cover it -- and cancel her policy. -rc Posted by Yasha, NJ on June 7, 2010: Looking at the slow motion replay, it seems as if the car burst into flames *before* hitting the ground: my guess, due to the concrete scraping against the metal underside, cutting through G-d knows what and throwing sparks at it to boot. And yeah, about 80mph. Posted by Mark, New York City on June 7, 2010: OUCH As a biker, this kind of stuff really really scares me Randy. I'm glad she's not getting away with it! Posted by Jim, New Jersey on June 7, 2010: Actually, that toll worker got away lucky. Had she been doing only like 50, she wouldn't have cleared the booth and instead T-boned it directly (see where the bumper landed?) I'm used to seeing concrete pillars in front of the booth for that reason. Posted by Tami, California on June 7, 2010: My son saw this on another website and that site claimed her skid marks were over 100 feet in length...before she went airborne! Definitely at least 80 mph. Posted by Nancy, Santa Rosa CA on June 7, 2010: I suspect that she probably does not have any insurance for car or herself if she is dumb enough to do this kind of thing. --- That's why many (most?) states require drivers to get insurance. Odds are she has it. -rc Posted by Carol "CJ", ID on June 8, 2010: I think she has seen too many movies with good stunt driving. Maybe this was her audition. Posted by Rohin, New Zealand on June 8, 2010: @Charles "Perfect example of an engineering triumph for protecting toll booth workers." I'm not sure about that: if she were moving fast enough to get over the ramp, but not enough to clear the booth.... Read the article that everyone's commenting on, or post a comment about it. |
