Actor Rip Torn (real name: Elmore Rual Torn, Jr.), 78, was arrested January 29, 2010, after police in Salisbury, Conn., responded to an alarm at the Litchfield Bank.
Torn, who lives in the town, was found inside the bank, which was closed at the time, "with a loaded revolver" and "highly intoxicated." He was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and weapons violations. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
Torn is best known for his role on The Larry Sanders Show (1992-1998), which earned him six consecutive Emmy award nominations as Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series; he won the award once, in 1996. Torn has most recently appeared in several episodes of 30 Rock as the head of the network.

Torn's lawyer later said he thought the bank was his apartment, which is located in the same building. We had no idea he was that wealthy.

It made the front page of the local news in CT. It's not the first time he's had alcohol "issues". He actually thought he was home when they found him. He was very disoriented. Isn't it great what fame will get you?

For the uninitiated, that's a line from Rip Torn's character "Zed" in Men in Black. -rc

This is so sad. I am sorry to see the deterioration of this otherwise productive citizen. How horrible that chemicals can take so much from us. How very sad!
