Posted by Shannon, Kansas on April 20, 2010: "just a kid" Really? 21 and just a kid. I thought adulthood began around 18 or so. Didn't realize it was now 25. Posted by Mike from Dallas on April 20, 2010: And ya wonder why people keep on doing these kinds of things? Because there's ALWAYS those like Uncle Dave who make excuses for them, no matter how lame. And they go through life deluding themselves that such excuses should be considered valid. Posted by Carl, NY on April 20, 2010: Agreed, the whole thing is disgusting. But this is typical PhillyFan...they've chucked batteries at opposing players, they've booed Santa (as well as half the known universe), they cheer when an opponent is lying on the turf -- not knowing if they'll ever walk again, etc. ad nauseum (so to speak). Why did it take this long for someone to deliberately puke their guts out on someone else? Posted by Chris in Middletown on April 23, 2010: Typical Philthadelphia 'fan'.... They are ALL pukes! Posted by Ranger JIm in Houston, TX on April 24, 2010: Looks as if either the other fans and/or the responding police officers got in at least one good lick as he was resisting arrest.... Had that had happened to me and my daughter (or granddaughters, these days), he wouldn't have been able to walk for about 24 hours or so, and probably would still be urinating blood! And the fan who caught a foul and gave it to the little girl should at least get an honorable mention in "HeroicStories", and I have wonder which team he or she was rooting for, eh? --- Since the fans took him down, I figured he got the shiner then. Consider that the dad is a police supervisor: he was probably armed. He certainly proved his restraint that day. -rc Posted by Rick in Warren, MI on May 1, 2010: "His uncle, Dave Clemmens, did. "He's not a monster! He's a kid," he said about his 21-year-old nephew." At what point does a person become not, "just a kid!" For christsakes he is 21 years old. Sorry he is not "a kid" any more, as far as the law is concerned he is an adult and should conduct and at least act like one. It is too bad I would have done worse. In Jr. High School I had a fellow student spit on me. The SOB was bigger then me, I stomped his chest a few times. Guess what he never did again? --- Nor, I bet, did any other kids at that school. -rc Posted by Robert in Missouri on May 6, 2010: Clemmens should be thankful that he's still alive considering the beating he received, and he's getting fed while in prison. Posted by Kellie in PA on May 27, 2010: I actually read about this case before it reached MSM. What made me the maddest wasn't what this guy actually did, it was how many "wonderful" Philadelphian's thought it was awesome and that this kid shouldn't get in trouble. Why not? Because the victim was an off duty cop. A lot of people commenting on the article thought it was just what he deserved. And people wonder what the problem in Philly is? Posted by Robert in Missouri on May 27, 2010: @Kellie: I wonder how many of those slimeballs who sided with Clemmons would think Vangelo got his just desserts if it ever happened to them. Re the 5/26 update and the information that Clemmens stuck his finger down his throat to induce vomiting, I doubt two years in the pokey is going to change his attitude for the better. He'll be very much a marked man in the eyes of Philly officers once he gets out. Posted by Marsha, Grafton, Va on May 29, 2010: I have 3 boys -- 15, 21, and 25 -- and NONE of them would EVER act like this "kid", whatever his uncle's pathetic excuse for him was. Apparently whoever raised him forgot to include a "common decency" clause in his upbringing -- something he could sorely use. And he's lucky that cop HAD some restraint if he was indeed armed that evening, since restraint was something ELSE Mr Clemmons apparently lacked. Comment Page: 1 | 2
