I'm guessing that he *didn't* have colon cancer, he just wanted an excuse to be away from the church... People like this give organized religions a bad name.

No, he didn't -- that wasn't clear in the write-up. He used that excuse to get away from the church, and to explain his frequent trips to New York for "treatment". -rc

Pfft...as long as people continue to be stupid enough to supply money to religions that have that much money to be stolen w/o it being noticed until an audit, then why be upset? 1.5 million dollars would've went a long way to helping the people that are both truly faithfull & needy, but the 'crime' is that it was stolen....Ironic, much?

ome on, dude, have you never heard of miracle cures? "Somebody" saw what a hard working and faithful man the good padre was, and saw his public good deeds, and cured him of his cancer.
And the Padre did do a VERY good job of doing unto others. He did unto the parishioners, and he did great good unto those two poor men, whom he was giving, ummmm, "theological tutelage" unto.
I generally expect better write-ups from you on these matters. Did you slip up? Is my sarcasm dripping? (NO,Yes!)
I'm sorry to see this site go. You were performing a public service. Oh, well, maybe something will happen and you may return to it in the future. You did good, Randy. Heck, you did better than the good padre!

Yes, I think there's little doubt that the padre was "doing unto others", and probably then said "My turn! Do me!" -rc

I agree with Pierre, Ontario, Canada, entirely.
In our family we always say "Do unto others before they do unto you."
Now we must pray for the good father, that he might be forgiven by someone, hopefully not the judge.
