I love the song! I was eating in a fast food joint one day, and saw this young kid with his pants way down, showing all of his underwear, bopping along trying to look cool. All of a sudden he noticed that the city bus was coming, and he had to grab those pants with both hands and run with the pants hiked up. He looked so silly, and so immensely UN-cool, that I just had to laugh. This will be one of those things we look back on and laugh about, like mullet or huge afro hairstyles, or polyester leisure suits.

General Larry Platt is my hero! At the risk of sounding like my Dear,departed Great-GrandMother, "This latest FAD is disgraceful!" My kids were growing up during the start of this trend and were most emphatically not allowed to participate in the madness. Whenever any of their friends came over who DID wear their clothes in this fashion, I would threaten to pull the jeans "to the floor" OR pull them up and staple them to their waist! Since our house was a "Kool-Aid house" where the kids liked to hang out and they could never be sure whether I was serious or just kidding, they always made sure their pants were right where they should be on their anatomies. I've weathered through some interesting fads with my children - grunge, punk, emo and goth, but this "show-your-underwear or plumber-butt" trend is hideous! IMHO

Patricia, my daughter, was in high school when this fad started. One day another student had his pants at half staff in the hallway. My daughter did as you threatened and lowered them all the way. She said there was a teacher who saw it happen and didn't do a thing. Perhaps the teacher felt the kid got what he deserved.

My sister is a teacher in MD (20 yrs) would start the year off with a vote on whether the pants should be worn up or down. If everyone agreed then all including her would wear their pants down, and she did participate in the vote. The pants never were unanimously voted down. LOL Therefore she would not be showing her undies you will not be showing yours.

We used to (and still do) laugh at people who trip over their own stupid selves. And now there are some idiots who think it's Cool to set themselves up like that?
Actually, that's good news. Really! It means that the human race is becoming more intelligent. Yes, seriously. They say that Nature abhors a vacuum, so more idiots are being created to make up for the dying breed.
At least, I HOPE that's what it means.
