Or, Don't Shoot Your Daughter's Boyfriend in the Nuts.

Sheriff's deputies in Navarre, Florida, were called to a noise complaint Monday, and when they arrived on the scene they found a man and a woman running toward them. The man said he had been shot and was bleeding from the groin. The woman with him alleged that her father had shot the victim because "he hates him, dude."

Police located the father, William Russell Kelly Jr, 48, and he allegedly admitted to shooting the boyfriend, Randall Carter. “I shot him in the nuts with bird-shot because he was beating my daughter,” Kelly said, according to his arrest report.

Officers said he was still armed with a Taurus revolver known as "The Judge", which can shoot .410 shotgun shells or .45 caliber slugs:

Man, I need to get me one of those! My daughter's boyfriend is behaving himself, I'm sure it has nothing to do with me constantly cleaning my favorite 12 gauge SG.

@Karl - They are quite a nice weapon. If you live in the country they make a good snake gun... apparently if you have a daughter too.

Wait...wait...let me get this straight...

The father allegedly shoots the boyfriend for allegedly beating his daughter and DAD goes to jail? I knew there was a reason why I fled Florida...

I'm going to have to assume that since the daughter was fleeing with the boyfriend when the police arrived that maybe...just maybe...there was no domestic violence. I recently moved to Colorado from south central Indiana where fathers (and brothers, cousins, uncles, etc) are still willing to use a firearm in defence of their daughter's honor. The instances of sexual and/or domestic violence against women is extremely low when compared to the national average.

@ Karl : There's a song running through my head right now... "C'mon in son, sit right here, and tell me about yourself..."

I dunno. In my part of Colorado, adult daughters pretty much defend themselves, and we only need to step in when we're asked to. -rc
