bullet  Join with a Con = Conjugal, Right?

Denise Rutledge, 45, dropped by the Flagler County (Fla.) Jail asking for a conjugal visit with an inmate.

Rutledge had an appointment, but she was late, so jail officials turned her away. And they noticed she seemed drunk, so they called deputies to check her out. When patrol officers arrived, they found Rutledge sitting in her car.

She failed a field sobriety test, and registered a 0.256 percent blood alcohol content on a breathalyzer. She was arrested for driving to the jail under the influence.

The county jail does not allow conjugal visits.

"The name of the inmate she wanted to visit was not released," the Orlando Sentinel noted in their report.

Eh. She probably shouldn't be any too picky.

There is a new t.v. show on about women who marry prisoners sentenced to life, tell their story. By and large, most met after the incarceration. Some of these women involve their female friends, and the idea of conjugal visits is just not right. If one of those guys wants a girlfriend, she should be named Rosy Palms.

I can not wrap my mind around this. These women profess love for somebody they have never, in most cases, will never meet.

While doing the law enforcement thing about 35 years ago, I was assigned to guard the outside of the jail. Women used to stand there and yell up to the prisoners. Without fail, they would ask them their names, and phone numbers. I just can not see these ladies making fools of themselves. They have to be out of normal brains. Or, sadly, very lonely.

We had a case a number of years back here in Florida. The wife of a very prominent attorney was doing some court advocacy for prisoners and fell in love with a lifer. Walked away from her marriage, kids, affluent lifestyle...to marry a man she would never be able to live with. Sad.

Ya gotta wonder if it was some kind of glitch in her brain or thought process...or if her marriage and life were so miserable she was willing to choose that kind of option.
