Administrators at Toro Canyon Middle School in Thermal, Calif., called the sheriff's department after noticing a teacher was acting ...strangely.
Deputies found Tanya Neff, 40, in the care of the school's nurse on March 23, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment. In their investigation, deputies found a container with an alcoholic beverage in it. They also believe Neff was washing down prescription medication with the alcoholic drink.
Responsible for more than 100 children that day, Neff was arrested on charges of felony child endangerment and booked at the Indio jail. The school district has placed her on administrative leave, though they have not yet decided whether it will be paid, or unpaid, leave.
"It all depends on the circumstances," said Superintendent Ricardo Medina, who called the whole thing an "unfortunate situation". Well, yeah.

Apparently she missed the memo that happy hour starts after the school day ends.

Now, there's several things wrong with your comparison. When mom has A drink with junior around, note it's A drink.
When a school nurse ON THE JOB has enough drinks to warrant "acting strangely" and may be using the alcohol to wash down prescription meds (which are unspecified here, but hardly a good idea) and they are responsible for children we're off on a totally different horse here.
Maybe little Johnny's mom is an alcoholic nutball, but I don't send my kid to little Johnny's house. I send my kids to school I expect the people taking care of them to be sober. Fired for sure. Just like you're fired for drinking on any other job.

Jales, she isn't a school nurse, she's a teacher; she was IN THE CARE of the school nurse. She must have been fairly impaired to be so. However, you are correct; regardless of her job title, it is reasonable to assume she will be fired for drinking on the job.

Oops, I stand corrected. Was too tired and didn't read it well enough.
