The hijinks at the Osceola County Jail continue -- but this time, they actually did something right.
It's well known that the jail -- like all jails in Florida -- record the phone conversations of inmates. To give the obliviots a fighting chance, a recording tells inmates that when they make calls.
That didn't slow down Franco Mayernik when he called his mother. Mayernik, in jail on drug trafficking charges, was of special interest to detectives working on his case.
"I listened to the phone conversation and heard his mother ask him if he left anything at Spank's house," a detective wrote in his report. Mayernik had been arrested on Thursday at Christopher "Spank" Eaton and Alexandria Dykes' home. "Franco told his mother he left two ounces of powder in the cushion on the couch. 'Powder' is street terminology for cocaine." Detectives went to the house and asked for permission to search. Eaton welcomed them in.
Detectives noticed Dykes in a closet. "I looked inside and observed Dykes removing two bags of cocaine from a shoe," a detective wrote. "Eaton spontaneously stated, 'Look, man, I am sorry we lied to you. ... Franco has never done anything for me so I figured I would just go to Polk County and sell this to make some money.'"
The coke weighed out to 57 grams, police say. Because they clearly knew the drugs were in the house, Eaton and Dykes were arrested and charged with cocaine trafficking, possession of marijuana and other drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both remain held jail with bail for each set at $50,000.
Mayernik is described as 300 pounds, with a tattoo reading "White Boy" on his belly:

Yep: Momma raised a fool.

If he was really talking to his mother they could have arrested her as an accessory after the fact, because she knew about the drugs and they could have searched her house also...just in case they found anything.

Asking if he "left anything" at the house is a crime? -rc
