bullet  He Definitely Knew Better

Police in Searcy, Ark., say a 48-year-old man was arrested inside the bedroom of a 16-year-old girl at 1:00 Monday morning. He had allegedly climbed in through her window.

Hamilton Riley and the girl are said to be having an "inappropriate relationship," local prosecutors say.

And how would a man of that age be in a position to meet such a young teen? Until he resigned after his arrest, Riley was a police officer in Searcy for about 7 years. His most recent assignment: for the past three years, he has been the school resource officer for Ahlf Junior High School.

Police in Searcy called in the state police to prosecute the case so there would be no conflict of interest in the department.

"It's very disturbing, but it's also very dangerous that someone who is placed in a position of control and trust for young students and is actually the Searcy police officer who they should be going to if they encounter this," said White County Prosecutor Chris Raff. "What we are alleging he has done is a terrible thing. And we're going to see that the law punishes him."

As a cop, we presume Riley knows exactly what's in store for him.

Yes I am sure he knows what is in store for him, and I would recommend that he bring plenty of KY Jelly with him. He will probably need it.

But she was consenting, so it's okay.

I don't think a lot of people are going to get the irony in that comment.

Yes, no doubt he knows what's in store for him, but let's hope he doesn't claim he was merely being overzealous in the provision of "school resources"....
