Too bad least one of the charges wasn't a capital offense. The sooner this man attempts to earn his Darwin Award, the better.

Perhaps, once he gets out of prison, he should hire himself out as a vacuum cleaner. He can snort all the dustbunnies in his mom's house and keep them inside the vacuum that is his skull until it's emptied once a month or so.

Randy, there should be an Oscar for one-liners and your comment should take it. I am still chuckling, thanks.

Too late for a Darwin award. From what I read, there was Hazel Summerall, her son James Swan, Swan's son (unnamed), and Swan's grandfather, also not named. It is not stated if he is Hazel's father or her father-in-law. That's four generations in one house. Not exactly the Cabots and the Lodges.

"Felony tampering with a victim"? Huh?
---
Threatening a witness (which can include a victim of a crime), like "Don't testify or I'll kill you," is "tampering". It's unclear what exactly happened in this case to lead to such a charge, but it's apparently something along that line. -rc

I looked up felony tampering as I was also confused. Based on the description I am assuming he was charged because he ripped the phone from her hand when she tried to call the police.
A person commits the crime of "victim tampering" if, with purpose to do so, he prevents or dissuades or attempts to prevent or dissuade any person who has been a victim of any crime or a person who is acting on behalf of any such victim from:
(1) Making any report of such victimization to any peace officer, or state, local or federal law enforcement officer or prosecuting agency or to any judge....

There has to be some deep rooted hatred in that family for a grandfathers first reaction to be shooting his grandson in the head. What goes on in that house on a normal day to set a stage like that?
