Charles Byrd, 23, of Sugar Hill, Ga., allegedly ran when a DUI task force officer tried to stop him after he broke several traffic laws.

At the end of the pursuit, Byrd jumped out of the car and ran to a nearby property, ran into the house, and locked the door -- prompting more officers to be called to the scene.

Officers surrounded the home and Byrd soon came back outside the residence, smelling strongly of pot, police say. While police were arresting Byrd, they found Timothy Donahue, 25, hiding inside the house.

Police officers obtained a search warrant and found and seized 69 marijuana plants in different stages of growth, a kilo and a half of processed marijuana, and cultivating equipment.

Byrd was charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, driving with an expired license tag, driving without headlights after dark, making an improper turn, and driving without a license. Donahue, who had an outstanding warrant against him, was also arrested on drug selling charges.

I'm not sure what Byrd was thinking when he ran to his friend's house, but from what I know, Donahue is looking at serious prison time with all the dope growing in his house.

I can just hear the conversation:
"Hi Charlie, whatcha doing here?"
"Hi Tim, nothing much. Got a joint?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Oh, by the way Tim, there might be a couple of cops looking for me, so you might want to lay low for a while."

Great friend!

A friend's son had a warrant for his arrest. The son was being as careful as possible, making sure he made no legal mistakes that would cause police to stop him. Problem was, he was staying at a friend's house who also had a warrant. So when the police came to arrest the friend, they found him also. Being careful, staying out of trouble, laying low, and just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Karma must really suck for some people.
