And this Robin Hood is no hero: He has been accused of identity theft and criminal impersonation after allegedly finding a wallet in downtown Denver and assuming the identity of the owner.
But we don't mean he's "a" Robin Hood: that's his real name. Robin Hood, 34, was nabbed January 6, allegedly leaving a record store with three baseball caps he hadn't paid for.
When police arrived, they found used "injection devices" in Hood's pants pocket. Hood told investigators, "I use them for heroin." He also told investigators that he used the stolen identity because he was wanted in Denver on drug violations and didn't want to be arrested. Police say Hood spoke freely after being advised of his Miranda rights.
The man whose identity Hood had stolen said he lost his wallet on December 14th, and that he did not know Hood or give him permission to use his identity.
Robin Hood -- not quite as noble in modern times:

We figure the folk hero Robin Hood of legend probably looked about as reputable.

Definitely someone from the "shallow end of the gene puddle" (to borrow a phrase I have heard the leader of the bluegrass group "Dry Branch Fire Squad" use on a couple of occasions).

Can you really blame him? If my name was "Robin Hood" I'd be on the lookout for a new identity too!
