Ola Mae Agee of Pensacola, Fla., was arrested May 13 after selling crack cocaine to a sheriff's deputy.
Sheriff's office surveillance video shows the undercover deputy allegedly buying a $20 piece of crack from Agee at her home. Officers are anticipating additional drug-related arrests connected to Agee -- they believe the additional suspects also bought crack from the woman.
Agee was arrested on felony drug charges and family members took her to the Escambia County Jail following her arrest. After processing, she was released on her own recognizance because of her age, a Sheriff's spokesman said.
Um, because of her age? Agee is 87 years old. She has multiple previous arrests on drug charges starting in 1996, when she pleaded no contest to possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver, and served two years on probation. Agee was also arrested in 1999 for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, but those charges were dropped.

As is typical in drug cases like this, we have to wonder: where are the parents?

It wasn't my intent to be drawn into an ancillary discussion and debate over the perceived function of a legal system, the general validity of laws, or the basics of social contracts.
